Thinking about starting Yoga for the first time?
Here’s what you need to know.

Yoga is a practice that has withstood the test of time. Having a regular yoga practice has a growing list of benefits – no wonder people have been practicing this ancient practice for over fifteen thousand years.

At Jai Yoga Studio, we’re so excited to help you start your yoga journey with us.

We are a family-owned yoga studio conveniently located on 140-1140 Austin Avenue, Coquitlam.

Our mission is to promote a wholesome yoga practice that integrates our mind and body within a kind and nurturing environment.

Below is some information for anyone who is new to yoga:

  • When dressing for class, be sure to wear something comfortable and stretchy.

  • You don’t need to bring any special shoes or socks, as yoga is practiced barefoot.

  • We are NOT a hot yoga studio. We offer mild infrared heat in our classes where the heat is set only 1-2°C above room temperature so you can enjoy the benefits of infrared heat without feeling uncomfortable.

  • Bring water, a towel, a yoga mat if you have one and if you have long hair, bring a hair tie or hair band.

  • We have yoga mats, knee pads, blocks and straps that can be purchased from the studio.

  • Late cancellations (less than 4 hours before class) and no-shows are subject to a strict $10 cancellation fee.

  • Make sure to arrive at the studio at least ten minutes ahead of time, so you have plenty of time to check-in, get settled and relax before your class

  • When you arrive at Jai Yoga Studio, you will always be greeted with a smile by our friendly staff and instructors. You will be given a tour of our studio upon your first visit.

  • Start with the below list of classes if you are either looking for relaxation & peace of mind OR you want to start with a gentle, easier practice:

    • Candlelight Yin & Yin

    • Yin Yang

    • Soothing Flow, Morning Flow & Nurturing Flow

    • Restorative Yoga / Self-Care Thursday

    • Meditation & Pranayama (this is purely a meditiation class, there will be no movement involved)

  • Start with the below list of classes if you are seeking a challenge and wish to tone your body as well as improve flexibility:

    • Hatha

    • Vinyasa

    • Power Flow

    • Gentle Power

    • Ashtanga Yoga

  • There are two parking spots at the front and forty FREE parking spots at the rear of the studio in the carpark labelled “1140 Austin Avenue Parking”. If you park in the underground parking, you can enter the studio by walking up the stairs and enter from the rear of building.
